1. Create your job description.

The first step in your hiring process is to write out a description of the role you are hiring for, detailing essential responsibilities and preferred qualifications. 2. Submit your job descriptions to job boards.

After creating your job description, the next step is to submit to job boards, such as Indeed, LinkedIn, or ZipRecruiter. 6. Conduct interviews with prepared questions.

You’ll want to speak to professional references that can verify that the candidate possesses the skills required to meet the demands of the role. Plan to speak to 1-3 prior employers, mentors, or cosmetology instructors that can vouch for the candidate. In addition, some businesses will conduct a background check or other third-party confirmation, depending on local and state laws.

9. Make an offer and begin onboarding.

Depending on the state, local, and salon policies, the chosen candidate should expect to sign an offer letter, complete a W2 tax form, review an employee/salon handbook, and receive in-depth training on any company-specific policies and procedures.
